Lahore building blaze claims six lives

A fire broke out in a plaza on Abbot road near Lahore’s Lakshmi chowk in the early hours of Sunday killing six people including a child,  whereas officials reported rescuing 43 victims who were trapped in the fire.
The fire erupted in a plaza in  Lakshmi chowk area spread quickly to four adjacent buildings.
Rescue and fire teams rushed to the site of the incident and managed to control the fire after several hours of hectic effort, during which rescue teams managed to help 43 trapped persons escape the buildings.
Six persons including a child were killed in the fire. The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment where the condition of four victims was reported as critical.
Fire brigade and Rescue teams reached the sight of the blaze and started rescue operation. Fire fighters and rescue teams from other parts of the city were also called in to bring the fire under control.
Rescue officials claimed that the fire was caused by a short-circuit. Thick black fire smoke came out of the flaming buildings and was seen wallowing up into the sky.
Fire brigade staff extinguished the fire after four hours' struggle.
