ISLAMABAD - A special cabinet meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in chair on Monday will deliberate on the draft of National Policy on Internal Security and will likely approve it to meet the challenges faced by the country in the wake of growing menace of terrorism.
Federal Interior Minister will brief the cabinet on the national policy on internal security and will lay special emphasis on equipping the law enforcement agencies with the latest equipment to meet the ever-growing challenges to them.
Sources in the government informed The Nation that federal interior ministry would demand some Rs 28 billion additional grant for complete implementation of the policy , which would also include strengthening of the provincial law enforcement agencies.
The proposed policy would comprise three parts and one part would be kept secret while two parts would be made public.
Sources further informed that interior minister would also take the cabinet colleagues into confidence on progress so far made on dialogue with Taliban and the impact of the recent terrorist attack on FC personnel in Bannu on the whole exercise.
The Cabinet agenda for Monday's meeting included approval of the National Policy on Internal Security , energy condition with specific reference to electricity import from India and matters relating to ministries of defence, interior, water and power and inter-provincial coordination.
