LAHORE - National Bank of Pakistan thrashed Rawalpindi Rams by 129 runs in the President’s Cup Gold League opener at the NBP Stadium, Karachi Monday.

According to PCB spokesman Monday, NBP, put in to bat, posted a massive total of 288 in 47.1 overs. Kamran Akmal scored 84 while Sami Aslam hit 76 and Fawad Alam 57. Munir Ansari clinched 4-57 and Hamza Sultan took 3-39. Zia (3-29) bowled brilliantly and restricted Rams to 159 in 44 overs. Zia was ably assisted by Raza Hasan, Alam and M Nawaz who bagged two wickets each. Usman Saeed managed to make 51 runs while Talha Qureshi added 42.

In another match at the Southend Club, Kashif Bhatti bowled SBP to impressive 127-run win over Islamabad Leopards. Batting first, SBP scored 272 in 50 overs. Abid Ali slammed 85 runs while Mukhtar Ahmed added 77. Hamza Nadeem and Zohaib Ahmed took three and two wickets respectively. In reply, Leopards were restricted to 145 in 39.4 overs. Bhatti’s grabbed three-for while Zafar Gohar and Zahid Mehmood got two wickets each.

At the RLCA Ground Karachi, KRL won by 24 runs against Karachi Zebras as an unbeaten Saeed Anwar Junior smashed 121 in KRL’s first innings score of 277-4. Sadaf Hussain and Noman Ali took three and two wickets respectively. At the National Stadium Karachi, Imran Butt’s 98 helped SNGPL reach a target of 235 in 48 overs against Karachi Dolphins. Dolphins scored 234 in 48 overs as Asad Ali took three wickets. In reply, SNGPL reached the target in 48 overs, despite Mir Hamza taking three wickets.

At the Niaz Stadium Hyderabad, Lahore Lions won by seven wickets against PQA. Batting first, PQA posted a total of 252 in 49.5 overs as Khurram Manzoor hammered 80, while Saad Nasim took three wickets and Ali Tipu Sultan took two. In reply, Lions reached the target in 44.1 overs with Umar Siddiq hammering 100 and Waqas Saleem and M Akhlaq scored 67 and 52 respectively. Meanwhile, ZTBL were given a walkover against the Peshawar Panthers as the Peshawar side could not make it in time.
