Virat Kohli & ICC ranking

India has climbed to number 2 in ICC Rankings for Test matches. The Indian Test team captain Virat Kohli after winning the series said: “Rankings do not matter to me neither do they matter to the particular squad right now.”
“Keep performing well, obviously rankings will go up. You don’t play for that. Obviously it’s an incentive, which we don’t aim for,” He added. It is not only Virat Kohli, where many cricketers have said that they don’t care about rankings. In my opinion, it is a big question for cricket governing body ICC (International Cricket Council). They must try to educate all the cricketers about why ranking is important.
If ICC fails to do so it should restrict players from commenting on rankings which many cricket fans take seriously.
