KP assembly condemns child rape cases

PESHAWAR -  Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Friday passed two resolutions demanding judicial inquiry into the alleged killing of Naqeeb Ullah, a tribal youth, in a fake police encounter in Karachi and exemplary punishment for those involved in sexual abuse and killing of children across the country.

The assembly met with Deputy Speaker Dr Meher Taj Roghani in the chair.

PPP lawmaker Fakhr-e-Azam Wazir was the mover of the resolution about Naqeeb Ullah killing.

The assembly condemned in strong words and demanded judicial inquiry into the incident. The house passed the resolution unanimously.

The second resolution was moved by PML-N lawmaker Amna Sardar.

The house unanimously passed the resolution condemning the raping and killing of children in various parts of the country. It also called for exemplary punishment for those involved in such heinous crimes. The country witnessed rape and murder incidents of children especially in Kasur, Mardan and Hazara division.

Earlier, opposition and treasury benches raised slogans against each others with “Go Nawaz go” and “go Imran go”, while the JUI-F lawmaker from Hangu Mufti Janan staged a sit-in in front of the Speaker’s dais calling for the release of gas royalty for his district.

Similarly, opposition parties protested over the alleged corruption in the billion tree tsunami project.

PML-N MPA Sobia Shahid said that the PTI government had claimed to have cultivated one billion trees in the province under the billion tree tsunami project. However, the official dada revealed that 220 million trees had been planted.  Later, the house was adjourned till Monday.
