LAHORE - JUI-F chief Moulana Fazalur Rehman called on PPP-P president Asif Ali Zardari at Bilawal House on Friday.
The two leaders exchanged views on current political situation, upcoming Senate elections and the likely scenario arising out of the possible resignations by the PTI legislators from the National and provincial assemblies.
According to sources, the meeting took place over lunch on the request of Zardari who wanted to discuss political matters with the Moulana whose party is also a coalition partner with the PML-N in the centre.
Fazalur Rehman was in Lahore in connection with his engagements regarding reorganisation of the MMA, a political alliance of religious parties formed to jointly contest the coming elections on one lection symbol.
The two leaders also pondered over the possibility of bringing about a political change in the KP province on the pattern of Balochistan just in case the PTI plans pre-mature dissolution of the provincial assembly. In order to make this happen as a possible option, it was decided to contact the leadership of ANP, JI, the PML-N and the PTI’s disgruntled group in the KP Assembly.
The two leaders agreed on holding of Senate and general elections on time and also discussed the prospects of mutual cooperation in this regard.
