DASKA - The advanced agricultural research and technology experts have stressed upon the growers and farmers to conducts the chemical tests of the soil of their agricultural land to know the actual quantity of the land fertility before sowing any seasonal crop, as these tests have now become vital for getting the maximum per acre yield of the seasonal crops. They said that the chemical tests of the soil of the fields is the neglected segments as the farmers and growers have never bothered to get their agri lands tested due to lacked awareness about the advanced agricultural research and technologies. They stated this while addressing a day-long agricultural seminar on "the balanced use of bio fertilizers" held at Sialkot. Sialkot DCO Capt. (Rtd) Atta Muhammad Khan, Sialkot EDO (Agriculture) Ehsan Ahmad Leghari and the progressive cultivators and farmers from both neighbouring Sialkot and Narowal districts also attended the seminar. The experts said that the under ground fertility of the fields and agricultural land was decreasing day by day due to the maximum sowing of the three crops (at least three crops every year) and this is a point of grave concern for the growers and the farmers. They said that the country's agricultural research institutions were busy to find out the chemical ways for enhancing the under ground fertility of the fields. They said that the government now should focus on the promotion of bio fertilizers and ensure maximum investment in this sector. They said that the timely chemical tests of the fields, proper and balanced use of the fertilizers , quality seeds, pesticides and awareness about the advanced agriculture researches and technologies to the cultivators and growers has now become vital for enhancing the per acre yield through modernizing the agriculture sector. They said that the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council has recently introduced Plant Population technology under which the growers would be able to enhance their maximum per acre yield of paddy by planting maximum siblings of the paddy in a field. The advanced agriculture research experts also stressed upon the need of raising awareness among the cultivators and farmers about the proper and balanced use of the fertilizers , quality seeds, pesticides and awareness about the advanced agriculture researches and technologies to the cultivators and growers has now become vital for enhancing the per acre yield through modernizing the agriculture sector. Addressing the seminar, the Sialkot DCO Capt (Rtd) Atta Muhammad Khan said that government was making all out sincere efforts to provide maximum agri facilities to the growers and cultivators, besides, resolving the prolonged perturbing problems of the growers' community. He said that the early provision of the quality fertilizers, seeds and pesticides to the farmers and growers was the responsibility of the government and the government would soon launch a massive campaign against all the adulterators for selling spurious pesticides, fertilizers and seeds in Sialkot district. In his speech, the Sialkot EDO(Agriculture) Ehsan Ahmad Leghari sad that the government was also making all out sincere efforts for developing and modernizing the agriculture and live stock sectors on top priority basis. He said that the construction of the 120 paved watercourses was also briskly under way in the rural areas of Sialkot district with total cost of Rs. 40 million. The watercourses would also be helpful in ensuring the smooth supply of the maximum water to the tail ending fields for irrigation purposes.
