QUETTA - Six persons including two policemen and four men belonging to Hazara community were killed and 11 others were injured here on Saturday in two different incidents of firing. Unknown armed persons opened fire on Kirani Road area that resulted in death of one person and injuries to another. Eyewitnesses said that the attackers were riding a car. They escaped from the scene after committing the crime. Both the deceased and the injured belonged to the Hazara community. People belonging to the community got infuriated and protested against the incident of killing besides blocking Kirani and Brewry Road at different areas. When police arrived in the area to control the situation and clear the roads, exchange of fire started allegedly between police and protesters. Three protesters were killed and 11 others including four policemen injured as a result of the shootout. Two of the dead were identified as Arif Ali and Ali Abbas. The names of three police personnel who injured in the firing were ascertained as Abdul Latif, Hayathullah and Zakir Hussain. While other injured were identified as Ziauddin, Zainullah, Muhammad Ibrahim, Ghulam Yaseen, Qahim Shah, Hassan Raza, Ali Akbar and a woman Khadja Bibi. Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Aslam Raisani sent a committee of four ministers including Jan Ali Changazi, Younas Moullahzai, Shafiq Ahmad and Irfan Karhim to Western Bypass area to negotiate with the locals to normalise the situation. When members of the committee were returning, unknown armed persons opened fire on their vehicles. As a result, two policemen were killed in the firing. Situation became tense in Brewry Road and Kirani Road areas following these incidents. Heavy contingent of police and other law enforcing agencies have been deployed in the area to control the situation. Meanwhile, CM Nawab Aslam Raisani met a delegation of elders belonging to Hazara community. The Chief Minister strongly condemned the incident and assured them that all measures will be taken to arrest the culprits. Meanwhile, at least ten people were killed and many others were injured in Uch area of Dera Bugti District on Saturday in a clash between security forces and armed tribesmen, said reports reaching here in Quetta. Sher Muhammad Bugti, spokesman of Baloch Republican Party (BRP), claimed that eight armed tribesmen were killed in the clash, however, security forces suffered a big loss. However, official sources did not conform this claim. According to another report, a personnel of security forces was killed and many others injured when their vehicle hit a landmine laid by unknown persons in Dera Bugti area. In the meanwhile, rockets were also fired on Uch gasfield, reportedly killing an engineer. However, official sources did not confirm killing of any official of the gasfield in the attack. Meanwhile, a security man was killed on Saturday in a landmine blast occurred in Nasirabad district. Reportedly, a personnel of security force was on his way in area of Nasirabad district when his foot came on landmine laid by unknown miscreants. The landmine exploded that resulted death of a security personnel identified as Amjid. Following the blast, police rushed to the spot and shifted the deceased to the hospital. Police have registered a case against unknown miscreants and cordoned off the area.
