KARACHI - The unabated violence continued in the commercial capital of the country on Tuesday claiming 10 more lives including a security guard and an activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). Ali Mazhar, 26, deputed as a gunman of Bilal Sheikh, a security officer of President Asif Ali Zardari, was targeted on the way to home near Rabbani area, Frontier Colony No 3, when unidentified armed men shot him multiple times and managed to flee. Mazhar died on the spot. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. In another incident, police found a body of a young man from Azeempura graveyard, Malir in the limits of Al-Falah Police Station. The victim Mohammad Iftikhar, 25, was a resident of Kehkashan Society, Malir Halt. Deceased was an activist of MQMs unit 103-B. police said unidentified culprits kidnapped him and threw his body in a garbage drum near Azeempura graveyard after shooting him dead. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for post-mortem, where scores of MQM workers gathered when they came to know about the incident. Panic griped the Malir and its surrounding areas and commercial and private activities were suspended immediately. Police suspect that the reason behind the murder was the confrontation between MQM and the PPI. Similarly, police found a bullet-riddled body packed in a gunny bag from Aatt Chowk, Lyari area in the precincts of Kalakot Police Station. The victim, later identified as Asim, was a resident of Agra Taj Colony Kalri Lyari. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for legal formalities. Police said victim used to run a meat shop in Moosa Lane Lyari. He was kidnapped six days ago. After taking Asim in captivity, kidnappers contacted with his family twice, but on Tuesday police found his body from Aatt Chowk. No case was registered till filing of the report. Police found another bullet-riddled body of a young man form Habib Honey Street in the limits of Kharadar Police Station. Police said unidentified men brought the abducted victim on motorbike and shot him dead in front of a mob. Police shifted the body to CHK for post-mortem and later moved to Edhi Morgue for identification. Police said Lyari gangsters could be behind the murder. Similarly, police found a bullet-riddled body of a youth from Mohajir Camp Baldia in the jurisdiction of Baldia Police Station. The identity of victim is yet to be ascertained. Police said that unidentified armed men after murdering him in cold blood threw his body in the said area of Mohajir Camp and ran away. Police shifted the body to CHK. Police said victim appeared to be Balochi-speaking and apparently a victim of gang-war. A pan shop owner was shot dead in Korangi Bilal Colony in the jurisdiction of Korangi Industrial Area Police Station. The victim, Ghulam Fareed Kalhoro, 40, was sitting at his shop situated at Sector 9, when unidentified armed assailants reached the spot and opened indiscriminate fire on him. He received two bullets and died on the spot. Police said victim was a resident of the same area where the incident took place and he hailed from Larkana. Police suspect personal enmity was the real cause behind the murder. A young man was shot dead and another injured near Lal Mosque Firdous Colony in the precincts of Gulbahar Police Station. The victim, Saleem, was standing with Gull Waris at Firdous Colony near Lal Mosque, when unidentified armed men reached on motorcycle and opened indiscriminate fire. Both received bullet injuries. Police shifted them to ASH for treatment, where Saleem succumbed to his injuries. Deceased was affiliated with a banned outfit while police suspect personal enmity was the reason behind the murder. A bailiff of banking court was shot dead at his home in Jauhar Square in the limits of Shahrah-e-Faisal Police Station. SHO Abrar Butt said police had got information that a man was shot dead at Jauhar Square in Block 18, Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Police rushed to the scene and recovered the body of Hussain Bux Solangi. Victim was an employee of banking court and unidentified armed men barged into his house and shot him dead and managed to flee. Victim used to live alone in that flat. The body was shifted to JPMC for legal formalities. A stray bullet killed a nine-year-old boy, Badar, when he was standing outside his home in Muslimabad Malir in the limits of Malir City Police Station. The body was shifted to JPMC, where doctors pronounced him dead. Separately, police found a tortured and strangulated body of a woman from bushes in Afghan Camp in the limits of Gulshan-e-Maymar Police Station. The identity of victim is yet to be ascertained. Police found her body from bushes in Qadir Village, Afghan Camp. The body was shifted to ASH for post-mortem, where lady MLO reserved her post-mortem report. Later police moved her body to Edhi Morgue for identification.
