ISLAMABAD - Despite the abolition of Ministry of Sports under 18th Amendment, the former federal sports ministers and former secretaries are enjoying all the benefits and incurring huge loss to the national exchequer. They used Pakistan Sports Boards (PSBs) cars and employees at their personal residences. The most interesting thing is that all the expenditures of these employees and cars have been bore by PSB for the last many years. A well-placed source told TheNation that different ex-sports ministers and secretaries were still holding cars and staffers, which they were provided with by the PSB. He said despite a lapse of over two years these gentlemen were not ready to hand over the staffers and cars back. Former sports minister Pir Aftab Shah Jillani left his assignment in December 2009 but after a lapse of almost two years he was still holding five staffers - Khanas Ali Shah (stenographer), Attique Ahmad (assistant), Ali Nawaz (groundman), Aman Khan (gardener) and Arshad Aziz (peon). Engr Shaukat Ullah Khan, ex-sports minister, who took over charge in April and remained in the office till June 30 is using a PSB Toyota Corolla car bearing registration no GE-949 in addition to three employees namely Skindar Khan, driver, Safoor Ahmad, cook and Maqbool Ahmad Saleemi, telephone operator. Anees Mosavi, ex-secretary, ministry of sports, who was transferred in 2010 has three employees with him namely, Liaquat Ali, cook, M Aslam Bhutto, waiter and Sohail Raza, gardener. Aziz Ahmad Bilour, ex-secretary ministry of sports who was transferred in March is using a Suzuki Khyber car bearing registration number IDG-4210 and also keeping hold of two PSB employees namely Irfanul Haq, watchman and M Mumraiz, watchman. Inamul Raheem, ex-joint secretary ministry of sports, is using a Toyota Corolla car bearing registration number GF-796 and is also availing the services of a driver named Noor Muhammad. These are some examples of officials misuse of national exchequer as they are not only using all these facilities illegally but also causing losses to national kitty. Who is going to stop all these persons misusing Pakistan Sports Boards funds as the government is busy in obliging their 'blue-eyed. Only the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is the only person to take suo moto notice and save the national exchequer from further plunder besides recovering the misused money from the persons concerned.
