FAISLABAD (INP) - The Pakistan Railways workers in Faisalabad has been working without salaries as the department is facing an acute shortage of funds. According to sources in the Railways, the employees are regretting that sale of tickets is on the rise because they will get their arrears after the funds are generated by tickets sale. The sources said the department is facing fuel shortage while it lacks funds to pay the salaries, say the sources, adding that the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has not released the salaries, which led to this unusual method of salary payment. Money obtained through the sale of tickets is being surfed to pay the salaries. The PR has been plagued by numerous problems. With each passing day, lack of funds has been multiplying its woes. Addressing a press conference the previous day, Railways Minister Ghulam Ahmad Bilour said the department was lacking fuels as the supplies would only last for two days. He said the government had not released the allocated funds and that the time was near when the department would have to shut down.
