It has been reported that in order to promote the culture of tax, the government plans to honour and acknowledge the taxpayers. In this regard, the Prime Minister has announced the ‘Taxpayer Privilege and Honour Card Scheme’ which will offer privileges to 100 top taxpayers. These taxpayers will be chosen from the categories of companies, association of persons, salaried individuals and non-salaried individuals. The privileged taxpayers will be given special awards and incentives as an acknowledgement of their special contribution towards the national economy. Such schemes, to encourage dutiful citizens, will not only promote the culture of civic responsibilities but will also systemize the revenue collection process.
