LAHORE - Police are hunting for two gunmen who shot and killed a police constable during crossfire in the Township police precincts late Sunday night. An alleged robber was also killed during the late night shootout.

Police yesterday identified the constable as Faisal Khan, who lost his life while fighting back criminals in the residential locality. His body was handed over to the family after autopsy. The martyred police official was buried at a local graveyard amid tears and prayers.

Faisal Khan and three other policemen were on patrol in the Township area when they signalled three suspected motorcyclists to stop. The motorcyclists opened fire on the policemen and tried to flee. The police also retaliated. As a result, one of the bandits died on the spot while his two accomplices fled the crime scene.

Constable Faisal also sustained bullet injuries during the crossfire. He was shifted to a nearby hospital but died in the way. Further investigations were underway.
