LAHORE - The LCCI has urged the CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif to launch an operation against the encroachers and land mafias who have now started encroaching public parks in various localities of the City. According to a press release issued on Saturday, the LCCI president Zafar Iqbal Ch after a meeting with a group of businessmen belonging to Gulberg, invited the attention of CM Punjab towards Jam-e-Shirin Park in Gulberg area which has not only been encroached heavily but is being fast converted into a dumping ground by different qabza groups and makeshift hoteliers. The LCCI president also expressed his grave concern over the inaction of departments concerned against the encroachers and land mafias despite clear orders by the Provincial Ombudsman, and repeated requests to Parks and Horticulture Authority by the area businessmen. He said that it was understandable that with whose backing these encroachers are fast spreading their business in Jam-e-Shirin Park in Gulberg and now they have started occupying side lanes and nearby roads. He said it is dire need to launch anti-encroachment drive in city in general and in the Gulberg area in particular because these encroachers are not only depriving the people of health environment but also affecting the business activities badly. The LCCI president also urged the CM Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif to ensure implementation of laws against encroachers and land mafia groups who are giving a bad name to the government, said the release.
