ISLAMABAD The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) Junior National Girls (Regional) Netball Championship started here at Hamidi Hall, Pakistan Sports Complex on Saturday. Karachi, Hyderabad, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Quetta, Peshawar and Gujranwala are fighting for the top honour. On Saturday, Federal Minister Sports Aijaz Hussain Jakharani graced the opening ceremony as a chief guest. The opening match was played between Karachi and Hyderabad which was won by Karachi at 19-15 goals. Umama Qadri of Karachi showed outstanding performance by scoring 15 goals. In the other fixture of the day, Karachi beat Islamabad 23-2 in a single-sided affair. Lahore overcame Rawalpindi 22-2 goals. Tabeer, Minahil and Ruqayia Saad showed excellent skills of the game. Tabeer and Minhal scored 11 goals each for their team. Hyderabad beat Quetta 34-0 goals. Tahira and Kiran Nazeer of Hyderabad did well for the winners. In the fourth match, Gujranwala outplayed Peshawar 12-3. Bakra Lodhi of Gujranwala played well and scored eight goals.
