JHANG - The Jhang police have succeeded in rounding up 1,453 proclaimed offenders over the past last six month of which 15 were involved in murder, dacoity, robbery and other heinous cases.

DPO Rao Abdul Karim said this while addressing an open court here at the City Police Station the other day.  He detailed that 174 court absconders and army deserters were arrested, four inter-district gangs involved in murder, dacoity and highway robberies was busted by the district police during the corresponding period.

He added that under illegal Arms Possession Act, 107 cases were registered and accused were arrested while 11 Kalashnikovs, 38 rifles, 100 guns, 352 pistols, 16 carbines and 2,020 cartridges were recovered from their possession.

The DPO further said that under Narcotics Act, a total of 80 cases were registered and 23.610 kg of heroin, 79.961 kg of charas, 3,335 bottles of liquor, 2,650 kg of opium were recovered. While, 25 working stills were also unearthed.  Rao Abdul Karim said that the police had also recovered an amount of Rs8.73 million from culprits.  The DPO said that it was the duty of police to protect the lives of masses honestly and police should change their attitude and should treat citizens with good behave.  He further said that touts entry into police stations was strictly banned. He requested the people to cooperate with police to arrest offenders involved in different crimes.  He also heard different complaints and ordered relevant police officer on the spot to solve the problems of complainants.
