2 awarded death sentence

LAHORE – Additional District and Sessions Judge Tariq Mehmood Zargham on Tuesday awarded death sentence to two accused namely Assad Majeed and Molvi Munir Hussain on the charges of murdering a person and injuring a woman.
The court has also imprisoned the accused for seven years along with imposition of a fine of Rs600000 on both convicts. According to case details, the convicts in 2010 had shot dead one Muhammad Anwer and had severely injured one female namely Najma owing to an old enmity.
Later, police had registered a case against Assad and Munir and submitted a challan in the court.
On Tuesday, the court after hearing the final arguments of both parties convicted aforesaid murderers.
Meanwhile, District and Session Judge on Tuesday marked pre-arrest bail of an accused stage actress Saba Rustam alias Lashana to Additional District and sessions judge Hamid Hussain by June 20 (today) for argument allegedly involved in giving death threats to a man and barging into his house.
On Tuesday, counsel of the complainant prayed the court to transfer the case to Session judge upon which the judge sent the case to district & session judge where from the case was marked to additional district & sessions judge Hamid Hussain for June 20.
According to FIR got registered by Iftikhar Ahmed in Sabzazar Police under section 452 and 506 of PPC against aforementioned accused actress, on December 31,2011 he was on way to his home when Saba along with his brother started abusing him. She tried to attack him but he remained safe and he entered into his house but Saba having club in hands forced into his house and started abusing him. She also gave him death threats, the complainant further maintained. He said that the bone of contention is that Saba is running brothel at his property which he wanted to get vacated.
