RAWALPINDI  - Embezzlement in funds related to Punjab Sports Festival has been revealed.
An amount of Rs 3 million were allocated for the prize money of 600 sportsmen has been misappropriated.
The Punjab Chief Minister organised the Punjab Sports Festival in which sports competitions on the level of Union Councils to provincial level were organised. Thousands of sportsmen from all over the province participated in the sports festival.
However, the prize-winners of the competitions have not got cash prizes or certificates of appreciation till to date. District Sports Officer had given a written request to the provincial government to distribute the prizes and certificates among the players who participated and won laurels in the competitions.
Instead of acting upon the fair recommendations of the district sports officer, orders of his transfer have been issued.
Meanwhile, the sportsmen have also demanded of the Chief Minister of Punjab to take quick action and ensure the provision of prize money and certificates to them.
