RAWALPINDI  - The Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) has completed desalination of 80 per cent of Nullah Lai while the remaining work will be completed within the next 30 days.

This was stated in a meeting of high ups of Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Solid Waste Management, and Rescue 1122. The meeting was presided by Deputy Coordination Officer, Rawalpindi, Saqib Zafar. The session reviewed the arrangements made by departments of the district in wake of possible danger of floods this monsoon season.

In the meeting, desalination campaign going on in certain nullahs of Rawalpindi was analysed and it was mentioned that Rawalpindi district government has finished desalination-work of 9 out of 11 major nullahs, whereas the work in two nullahs will also be completed soon. DCO Rawalpindi, Saqib Zafar also formed a committee of Members Provincial Assembly including Malik Ghulam Raza, Sheheryar Riaz, Raja Muhammad Hanif, Ziaullah Shah and EDO Municipal Services Imtiaz Ahmed Malik with District Officer Sald West Management Dr Mazhar Azeem.

The committee has the responsibility of monitoring the desalination-work in the nullahs of Rawalpindi.

On the occasion, DCO Rawalpindi, Saqib Zafar directed the administration of Tehsil Municipal Association, Rawal town, to take immediate steps to ensure that covers be placed on open main holes in the city so that they might not be blocked when rain would pour in the monsoon season.
