KARACHI - The Sindhi nationalist leaders have welcomed the Supreme Court verdict which disqualified Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani for five years.
The nationalist leaders also demanded dissolution of the Assemblies and announcement of schedule for new general elections in the country.
When contacted, Chief of Sindh United Party (SUP) Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah while talking to The Nation welcomed the verdict of the Supreme Court and disqualification of the Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani. He said that Gilani had been disqualified since April 26th, 2012, so all the decisions taken by the Federal Cabinet including presentation of budget were illegal and unconstitutional, which immediately be reversed.
He opined that the there is no moral ground for the present government to continue, so the Assemblies and government should be dissolved and schedule of new general elections be announced.
President of Awami Tehreek Advovate Ayaz Latif Paleejo also supported the verdict of the Supreme Court. He also demanded for dissolution of Assemblies and announcement of schedule of next general elections immediately.
Paleejo said that people had voted PPP to power but it did not ensure arrest of killers of its own leader.
He said that people of Sindh has no expectations from the PPP as it has failed to serve the interests of the people.
He said that PPP leadership should mend its ways because people of Sindh were fed up with its loot and plunder of resources and they would not let it happen again.
Awami Tehreek Chief said that his party will again take out ‘Mohbat-e-Sindh Rally’ next month on July 15, 2012 in Karachi.
Dr Asif Baladi, General Secretary of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mohaz (JSQM) said that there is crisis and confrontation among the State institutions in the country.
JSQM leader believed that the one powerful institution is still sole authority in the decision making in all issues.
Chief of Sindh Unity Forum Ali Hassan Chandio while supporting the verdict of the apex court and said that PPP government has done nothing in the interest of the people.
He said that terrorists are roaming freely in Karachi as PPP has given licence to the killers to kill the innocent people in the name of reconciliation policy.
He said that nationalist parties of the province have decided to contest the next elections on joint platform.
He said that nationalists will not leave the field open for the PPP and its ruling allies in the next elections.
Meanwhile, just after the verdict of the Supreme Court of disqualifying the Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, the PPP workers came out on streets in different cities of its base in the Sindh province on Tuesday in protest.
However, the PPP Ministers and MPAs may express their reservations in their speeches in the Sindh Assembly on Wednesday (today).
On the other side, chief of PPP-Shaheed Bhutto Ghinwa Bhutto has welcomed the verdict of the Supreme Court, stating that ruling PPP’s policies created Constitutional crisis in the country.
