LAHORE - Electricity shortfall came down to 6,000MW from 8,000MW on Tuesday after the government provided fuel to power plants.

According to sources, following the arrangement of furnace oil and 200MMCFD gas for thermal power plants and IPPs, their joint contribution to power generation crossed 7,000MW. The hydel generation also added 300MW to their previous generation of about 4,200MW, said the sources.

The overall generation reached 11,500MW against the demand of about 17000MW, they said, adding that improvement in power situation would be witnessed in a couple of days.

A slight improvement in electricity supply was witnessed in Lahore where the feeders conducted nine-hour loadshedding while Lesco’s rural consumers faced more than 12 hours without electricity.
