ISLAMABAD June 20 (Online): National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has handed over 2,000 tents to the Federally Administrative Tribal Areas (FATA) Disaster Management Authority for distribution among the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

The NDMA officials said in Islamabad that transport has also been arranged to bring the IDPs to the relief camps. They would also be provided a Ramzan Package during the upcoming holy month. Meanwhile, the federal government has announced to provide five hundred million rupees to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government for the settlement of IDPs.
The National Disaster Management Authority will also provide hundred million rupees for this purpose. Meanwhile, the United Nations says it is supporting Pakistan's humanitarian efforts to help thousands of people of North Waziristan.
A UN spokesman told the regular briefing at UN Headquarters in New York that access remained the greatest challenge in the areas of displacement and urged the authorities to improve the humanitarian space. The spokesman said an estimated 34,000 people have fled North Waziristan following a relaxation in the curfew, bringing the total number of people displaced from the area since May to some 100,000.
