Counterfeit notes irk traders, buyers

KAMALIA - With Eidul Fitr approaching fast, the people have started visiting markets for shopping while the buyers and traders are facing problems due to counterfeit currency notes circulating in the country.

It is a cause of concern for the buyers and shopkeepers alike. A large number of Rs500 and Rs1000 denomination notes are being used in Kamalia city and its surrounding areas. As Ramazan and Eid season are on, because of crowd of buyers fraudsters with fake notes are difficult to be caught.

Social and civil circles have appealed to the government to take notice of the situation and to alert the local authorities. City Police Station SHO Nadeem said that citizens should indicate any such activities and police will act according to law.

Relief at Ramazan bazaars claimed: All the necessary goods are available in the Ramazan bazaars of Muzaffargarh city at subsidised prices, said a tehsil officer said

He visited a Ramazan Bazaar here on Saturday. He said that FIR had been launched against 15 shopkeepers and a Rs25,000 fine had been imposed on profiteers. He said that price control magistrates are active to stop the storage of things, enhancement of prices and etc.

RTA Secretary Shehzad Magasi said that action continued against overloading and inflated fares. He said that 41 vehicles were checked. In the condition of violation, Chalans were issued to 14 vehicles and Rs6,000 fine was imposed.

Punjab budget termed anti-public: A PTI leader criticised the Punjab Budget 2016 and lamented that rulers are stuffing the national treasures in their pockets while people are at the mercy of profiteers and looters.

Chaudhry M Ashfaq said that the entire nation is worried due to numerous problems but the ruling party is busy in their merriment. He alleged that people's tax money is being spent on Shahbaz Sharif's promotion campaign. He stated that government has totally ignored education and health sectors in the budget. He alleged that even though PML-N chants the slogans of provision of education and health facilities but in practice their policies are based on enmity as neither education is available in schools nor basic healthcare is available in hospitals.

FIA nabs 3 persons

Staff Reporter from Sialkot add: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested two persons while they were trying to travel to South Africa through Sharjah from Sialkot International Airport on fake documents.

Divisional Deputy Director FIA Khalid Anees said that M Mushtaq and Sajjad Ahmed were trying to travel to South Africa through Sharjah on fake visa documents, when the FIA immigration team traced them during a special checking.

Meanwhile, the FIA arrested another accused Shehzad Anwar while trying to travel to Sharjah on fake passport of another person Tariq Masud.

The accused Shehzad had purchased the fake passport from Tariq Masud by paying him R100, 000. Shehzad tried to take benefit of his resemblance with accused Tariq and tried to travel to Sharjah. The FIA sent the accused behind bars after registering separate cases against the accused.

DEFUNCT GROUP LEADER ARRESTED: Daska police have registered a case against defunct group Jaish-e-Muhammad's central leader Abdul Rasheed Khan of Dera Ghazi Khan for collecting donations at Jamia Masjid Al-Noor Mundeyki Goraya, Daska tehsil.

According to the FIR (267/2016) lodged with Daska Saddar police station, the accused also delivered pro-Jaish speech and collected Rs18,000 in cash donations for the defunct group.

Kh Asif holds open court: Federal Minister for Defence, Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Sunday held an open court at PML-N House Paris Road Sialkot here.

He listened to the complaints of people came from across the district and issued directives for the on spot resolution of these problems.

Local MPAs - Mansha Ullah Butt, Ch Muhammad Ikram, PML-N leaders - Babar Khan, Mian Ashfaq, Toheed Akhtar, President PML-N (Youth Wing) Sialkot District Muhammad Farooq Ghuman and Nusrat Jamshaid Malik (President PML-N Women Wing Sialkot City) were also present on the occasion.
