SC orders for shifting oil tankers terminal to Zulfiqar Abad within 15 days

Supreme Court (SC) has ordered for shifting oil tankers terminal from Shireen Jinnah Colony to Zulfiqar Abad within 15 days.

The case of shifting of oil tankers to Zulfiqar Abad terminal came up for hearing before SC Karachi registry bench headed over by Chief Justice of Pakistan ( CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar here Wednesday.

Mayor Karachi, Wasim Akhtar and office bearers of Oil Tankers Association (OTA) appeared in the court.

At the inception of hearing the CJP inquired from Wasim Akhtar cleanliness of how much nullahs have been completed. Tell us you are arranging the visit of which nullah.

Wasim Akhtar told the court “ Sir, lets go to Khayyam Nullah.”

Wasim Akhtar said Zulfiqar Abad oil terminal has been inaugurated one year before but Oil tanker owners are not ready to go there.

In reply to Wasim Akhtar statement, Yousuf Shahwani, president Tankers Association took the plea that “ we are ready to go there, Mayor Karachi is lying."

CJP while reprimanding Shahwani remarked “ he is your mayor. Talk to him with respect."

Yousuf Shahwani told the court only 130 acres land has been provided to them out of 200 acres land.

CJP inquired from Wasim Akhtar why the work has not been completed so far.

Mayor Karachi told the work has been completed. If you wish, you can get it inspected by Nazir.

The CJP ordered that no tanker would stand in Shireen Jinnah colony after 15 days. If oil tankers owners go on strike then all will be sent to jail.

Yousuf Shahwani said it will not be possible to do so.

CJP remarked “ ,Mian Sahib, fear God. Show some patriotism."

The court directed Mayor Karachi and Zia Awan to inspect Zulfiqar Abad terminal and inform the court about the situation.
