KP IGP asks police bureaucracy to meet on weekends

PESHAWAR - A decision has been taken for the police bureaucracy to hold a meeting of all additional IGs and regional police officers on weekends, ie Saturdays and Sundays. 

The decision was taken at a meeting, chaired by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Moazzam Jah Ansari on Saturday, says an official handout issued here on Saturday. 

“Weekends are days-off, but we take up important matters related to public welfare and solution to various problems on weekends, we will be better able to make progress on the other weekdays on various cases,” the IGP said, adding that the meeting of the top officers of police on weekends would also chalk out plans for crime control.

Meanwhile, the IGP presided over a high-level meeting at Central Police Office on Saturday, which also attended by additional IGPs investigation, DIGs and other officials. 

The additional IG HQRs gave a presentation to the IGP about the police reforms, provision of police service to the public at their doorsteps and other professional related matters. 

Speaking on the occasion, the IGP said that congenial atmosphere between public and police would be restored for promoting public service-oriented policing as well as combating crimes in society. 

He termed public help and corporation with the police as guarantee for peace in the society and directed the participants of the meeting to keep close liaison with public and with their unstinted support and cooperation adopt practical steps for maintenance of the law and order in the society.
