ISLAMABAD (APP) - The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has approved a project for enhancing countrywide outreach, up-gradation and computerization of the Federal Tax Ombudsman Office. The Project costing Rs. 133 million aims at improving the effectiveness of tax justice in country through the introduction of automated system. A statement issued here Friday said that the project also aims at computer-based complaint handling by the FTO office and enhancement in its capacity to respond to the tax related complaints in a timely manner. It also envisages better and effective coordination between the FTO and the Federal Board of Revenue with respect to taxpayer complaints and implementation of the recommendations. The social benefits envisaged to emerge from the project include, significant decrease in the processing time of complaints, decrease in the cost of filling of complaints by the tax payers. It would also improve access to the tax justice services, monitoring of the status of complaints and improvement in the capacity of the FTO to redress public complaints.
