Islamabad A high-level meeting that held at the Federal Ministry of Interior has decided to show zero tolerance towards the violent protesters involved in creating mayhem and chaos in the twin cities for the last two days. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Interior Minister Rehman Malik to review law and order situation in Islamabad at the Ministry of Interior. Secretary Interior, Chief Commissioner Islama-bad, IGP Islamabad and officials of other departments concerned attended the meeting. It was decided in the meeting that any miscreant who tried to damage the peaceful atmosphere of the twin cities would be dealt with severely. Malik directed the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) to maintain maximum coordination with Rawalpindi Police to control riots as well as to confiscate any vehicle involved in carrying people for agitation from outside Islamabad/Bhara Kahu. The meeting decided to take on board all political segments as well as elders of Bhara Kahu and of other adjoining areas to maintain law and order situation. The concerned officials apprised Interior Minister that some people were observed carrying cell phones on the rooftop of a plaza in front of Bhara Kahu Police Station, who were directing certain people in the mob, against the law enforcement agencies, by indicating their positions. It was brought to the notice of the Minister that people from surrounding areas of Islamabad were brought to create mayhem in the twin cities and the involvement of Jehadi elements as well as illegal immigrants in violent protests could not be ruled out. Minister for Interior immediately ordered inquiry against those individuals for subsequent registering cases against them. Minister for Interior has also directed the Islamabad administration, for carrying out survey of Bhara Kahu and other adjacent areas for exposing illegal immigrants living there. The meeting showed its concerns that as local administration had withdrawn the notification of the increase in local transport fare there was no justification for violent protest that continued on Friday. Interior Ministry has also appealed to the parents of students and young lads, who are being used by some political people for their own ulterior motives to bar their children for participating in illegal activities.
