SARGODHA - The Punjab government has finalised the approval of ten new jails in province and issued preliminary budget of Rs400 million to build jails in ten district including district Bhakkar, Hafizabad, Narowal, Pakpattan, Shujabad, Lodhran, Rajanpur, Khaniwal and Okara.

According to the Punjab Prison Department, there were 19 jails in 1947 and 13 more jails were established during the last 65 years. Inspector General of Prison Farooq Nazir has released orders to expedite the speed of this project so that over loaded jails could meet the relief.
