SARGODHA - The police have claimed to arrest 95 drug pushers and recovered 22.6kg heroin, 22.5kg charas and 1,080 bottles of liquor during a crackdown in the district.

According to the sources, the police teams of different stations following a continuing drive against drug peddlers raided on various dens in the district and arrested ninety five peddlers including Zafar, Safdar, Mehboob, Tariq, Sajjid, Nasar, Imran, Shahid, Asghar, Mumtaz, Zafar, Ahmad, Khadim, Afzal, Arshad, Sher Khan, Akram, Sher Muhammad, Nasar Iqbal, Ghazanfar, Naseer, Abid, Nasir, Ashraf, Amir, Bahadar, Nawaz, Zaman, Azhar, Amir Masih, Ashraf Masih and two women Mumtaz Bibi & Balqees Bibi etc.

The police have recovered 22,504 grams charas (hashish), 22,554 grams heroin, articles of running distilleries and 1,080 bottles of liquor worth millions from them. The police have registered separate cases against the accused persons and sent them to jail for further trial.

16 gamblers nabbed: On the instructions of DPO Dr Muhammad Rizwan, the Urban Area and City Police have conducted raids on different gambling dens late on Sunday and arrested sixteen accused, when they were betting on Pakistan vs India cricket match.

The arrested persons include Haji Muhammad Akram, Shahid, Rashid Saleem, Muhammad Anwaar, Nadeem, Liaqat Ali, Muhammad Abbas Rehmani, Saqib, Sikandar Rehmani, Ashfaq, Shafiq Arain, Qazzafi Sheikh, Muhammad Ihsan Mughal, Umar Farooq, Usman, and Rafih.

The police have recovered twelve cell phones, Rs124,200, two fax machines, 5 wireless phones and a TV from the accused. The police have registered separate cases against them and started investigations.
