MULTAN - Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa while lashing out at Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said that CM’s statements against President Asif Ali Zardari reflected that he was ‘mentally unstable’.

He stated this while addressing a news conference here at Bahauddin Zakariya University on Monday. He said that a normal human being could not talk like Shahbaz Sharif.

Khosa further said that Nawaz Sharif resumed politics because of Benazir Bhutto as she convinced him to take part in 2008 polls. He said that despite life attempts on President Asif Ali Zardari and putting him in jail, Benazir Bhutto signed Charter of Democracy with Nawaz Sharif. He said that instead of paying mere lip service, the PPP leadership strengthened democracy with its blood. ‘Instead of fleeing the country with 40 boxes, Benazir preferred to be martyred’, he added.  ‘PPP strengthened national defence as Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto made the country atomic power while Benazir Bhutto gave missile technology’, he said. He asked the judiciary to keep balance in its decisions.  Khosa also criticised judiciary for asking the Prime Minister to write a letter to the Swiss authorities without hearing him.

He said that Prime Minister protected the rights and dignity of 180 million people. ‘Those, who attacked courts, are teaching us the lesson of judiciary’s respect today’, he added. He said that some elements kept doing politics while sitting in the lap of dictators. ‘How can they preach democracy now?’ he stated. He said that the nation offered immunity to the President and nobody objected to it during the approval of 18th, 19th and 20th Amendments.

‘It is the Constitutional obligation of CM Punjab to respect President Asif Ali Zardari’, he stressed.

He said that the speculations of all those who kept giving dates for the end of the government, proved wrong.

‘The government has accomplished four years successfully while the President has created a new history by delivering fifth consecutive address to the joint session of the Parliament’, he added.

He said that holding of Senate elections was also a big achievement of the government.

He admitted that the workers were neglected and declared that the ongoing year was the year of workers.

He formed a task force to resolve all problems being faced by the workers, stating the workers would be empowered.

He directed the officials of Federal departments to respect workers and address their problems.

He said that PPP had formed party’s South Punjab organisation and Seraiki province would be made at all costs.

‘But we need a two-thirds majority in the Assembly for this purpose’, he said.
