ISLAMABAD - A week-long sports gala of Sweet Home kids called ‘Angels on Earth’ started here at Jinnah Stadium Pakistan on Monday.
Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khurshid Shah was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony. A total of 2,800 orphan kids from 28 cities are appearing in the gala.
Speaking on the occasion, Khurshid Shah appreciated the efforts of Zamurrad Khan for collecting orphans from various cities and providing them all necessary facilities in Pakistan Sweet Homes.
“ Zamurrad Khan has collected kids from across the country and providing them all best possible sporting facilities, it is great service to humanity. Majority of kids residing in Sweet Homes are the siblings of bomb blast victims, “ he added.
MD PBM Zamurrad Khan said that the children are being provided with free food, shelter, boarding facility and quality education in the renowned educational intuitions of the area. He said that nine sweet homes are completely sponsored for next 14 years, which are being run with donations from various philanthropists.
So far, over 28 PSH have been established in Pakistan in which 2,800 children are spending life of hope, felicitation and respect, he added.
The annual sports gala has been organized  by collecting donations worth of Rs 100 million from across the country and PBM was not paying a single penny for this, he said.
On the first day, the kids from Sweet Homes participated in various contests and over 50,000  more children from various schools would join on Pakistan Day celebrations on March 23, he said.
Pakistan cricket team players including Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Ch Zaka Ashraf will attend the concluding ceremony on March 26.
The cricketers have expressed their willingness to join hands with Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal to ensure the provision basic amenities to the children of Sweet Homes, he said.
