LAHORE - Former foreign minister and PTI leader Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri has urged the masses to refrain from divided mandate in the next polls as it would leave parties in no position to implement their manifestoes.
Talking to the newsmen at his residence on Monday, the PTI leader said that early election was not a problem for the party as it already had established its base. He said that the PPP was taking every step to cling to power while the PML-N wanted early polls as it considered that delay in elections would provide the PTI more time to establish itself.
He, however, said that ‘flawed’ policies of the government were damaging the country and any delay would prove harmful. The PTI leader feared that if not taken seriously the damage could be irreparable making it impossible for the next government to take remedial measures.
New leadership after the party elections would be asked to send recommendations of candidates from their respective districts, he said. Replying to a query, he dispelled the impression that a majority of rural constituencies were in the pockets of chieftains and other influential families.
Recalling some big guns that lost in the previous polls, he said that more surprises were in store as the media had made rural population conscious about their due rights.
