KHYBER AGENCY – More than 2,000 tribal families have evacuated their homes and left the area to take refuge in safe places as fresh violence activities have been resumed in Bara, local sources said on Monday.

They said over 2,000 families from Shlobar, Malikdin Khel, Aka Khel, and Sepah and Kamr Khel areas fled to settled areas to their relatives and to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps.

According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) sources, so far 23000 families from Bara had been accommodated in Jalozai IDPs camp. However, the newly displaced tribesmen accused the authorities concerned of neglecting them. They said that for the last three days they had been living under an open sky. Shafiq, a fresh IDP from Bara said that excessive mortar and artillery shill strikes besides target killing forced him to take refuge in IDPs camp. Concerned authorities reluctant to extend registration to him and therefore he was staying with his children without tent and edibles, he blamed. Another IDP Gul Sharif said that no assistant had been provided to him so far and was living starving with his family.

It is important to mention here that tension built up in the area when last week forces convey was targeted in Alamgodar area that killed a lieutenant with other three troops and forces launched a massive operation against militants that caused loss of two dozen lives.
