UoS always envisages community development: VC


SARGODHA - The University of Sargodha has always accorded priority to development projects not only for the university but also for the community, said UoS VC Dr Muhammad Akram Chaudhry while addressing the inaugural ceremony of community based Campus Radio of the varsity VOV FM98.2 and laying the foundation stone of University Medical Complex & Research Centre here on Monday.
The VC said that although Sargodha had been its mark for its agricultural fertility as well as private hospitals but the UoS had also made its presence felt in that list. There are several self-help based projects launched by the UoS which have extensively increased the educational, research, constructional and developmental activities at the university. On the occasion, the VC commended that it was a memorable day that two projects of social welfare had been launched together. The UoS will not only provide medical services to the community but will also inform and educate people through community based FM broadcast. Campus radio was an utmost desire of the students and social community. The motive behind the establishment of VOV FM radio is to produce the informative, literary and educational programmes for the benefit of masses and these programs will help a developed society. The VC also declared that the UoS was planning to establish a television station at the campus in the near future and the project would be started next year. Station Director VOV Campus Radio Muhammad Idrees Mirza briefed the vice chancellor about the programming and broadcast schedule.
Earlier, Mrs Rehana Akram Chaudhry planted a sapling in university’s ladies and Children Park to inaugurate the plantation campaign. UoS Registrar Dr Shoukat Ali, Dean Faculty of Business & Administrative Sciences Dr Maqbool Hussain Sial, Dean Faculty of Agriculture Dr Muhammad Afzal, Dean Faculty of Medical Sciences Dr Zahoorul Hassan Dogar, Dean Faculty of Science Dr Muhammad Ali, Principal Medical College Dr Ais Muhammad, Principal University College of Agriculture Dr Zafar Iqbal, Resident Officer Prof Ch Muhammad Iqbal, head of departments and a large number of employees were present at the ceremonies.
