ISLAMABAD - Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at PM House on Thursday and briefed him on the ongoing operation Zerb-e-Azb and the process of rehabilitation of the temporarily displaced persons back to their homes.
According to the prime minister’s media section, matters relating to the return of temporarily displaced persons and the raising of additional FC wings for the security of western borders/Fata came under discussion.  The overall security situation in the country and the operation against miscreants in the port city of Karachi and related developments also figured in the meeting. Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar was also present during the meeting. Earlier, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif here Thursday afternoon.
The prime minister felicitated him on assuming new responsibilities and expressed the confidence that he would continue to work for building the professional capacity of Pakistan Air Force and its personnel.  The newly-installed air chief thanked the prime minister for reposing confidence in him.

INP adds: Chief of General Staff of United Kingdom General Sir Nicholas Carter called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif here on Thursday and discussed with him matters of mutual interest including regional security situation and measures to further enhance defence cooperation between both the countries.
He was also given a detailed briefing on operational and training aspects of Pakistan Army.
Earlier, on arrival at General Headquarters, a smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented guard of honour to the dignitary. Gen Nicholas Patrick also laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada.
