Islamabad - Ambassador of France to Pakistan Mrs. Martine Dorance is upbeat to promote private French investment in food business in Pakistan.
“Even though the security situation remains precarious in the country, there is huge scope to promote French food in Pakistan”, ambassador Dorance told a media briefing at her residence. She said France is celebrating French Cuisine worldwide today.
She said in 150 countries on all five continents, restaurants are offering 1500 dinners to celebrate France’s gastronomy by inviting the public to share a “French style dinner”.  In each participating restaurant, the event will pay tribute to a vibrant, open and innovative cuisine, while remaining true to its values of sharing, pleasure and respect for good food and for the planet. This is in line with the initiative taken on January 21 this year by French Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Development, along with world-renowned 3-Michelin-starred Chef Alain Ducasse, officially launched the “Goût de France/Good France” project. She said that a  committee of international chefs, led by Alain Ducasse, selected and unveiled the final list of restaurants participating in Goût de France/Good France”. They reviewed proposals submitted by restaurants all over the world, which prepared a menu representative of French gastronomy: Among the finalists, one restaurant, Café Flo, is located in Karachi, Pakistan which is offering a “French-style” full special menu with a traditional French aperitif, a cold starter, a hot starter, fish or shellfish, meat or poultry, a French cheese (or cheeseboard), and a chocolate dessert. The Ambassador also hosted a private “French Style” dinner with seven courses on the same day.
