SHARJAH - Asmavia and Marina Iqbal helped Pakistan overpower South Africa Women by five wickets in Sharjah.

South Africa , after being put in, failed to gather any momentum in their innings as their progress was halted by wickets at regular intervals. Mignon du Preez was top scorer with 41, while two more reached double figures as South Africans were restricted to 101-7. Asmavia picked up 3-23, while Sumaiya Siddiqi and Sana Mir got one wicket apiece.

In reply, Pakistan lost Javeria Khan in the first over, but bounced back through a 52-run second-wicket stand between Marina and Bismah Maroof. South Africa fought back with two wickets in successive overs, but Marina carried on and took her team to within 22 runs of victory. Asmavia gathered 23. Sune Luus took 3-14.
