LAHORE - Lahore SSP (Investigation) Rana Ayaz Saleem on Thursday awarded punishments of different nature to several police investigators over faulty investigations, poor performance, and corruption.
According to a police spokesperson, the investigation police chief awarded punishments to seven inspectors and sub-inspectors while listening to their replies during Orderly Room held at the investigations headquarters Qila Gujjar Singh. Earlier, these policemen were issued show-cause notices on different charges ranging from corruption to malpractice. The policemen appeared in person before the chief but failed to submit satisfactory replies.
The spokesperson said that the SSP ordered forfeiture in two-year services of Inspector Muhammad Shoaib and Inspector Shafqat Ali as they failed to hunt down the dacoits, who were wanted to the Hydyara and Lower Mall police.
Similarly, the SSP ordered withholding of promotion and withholding of increment for two years for inspectors including Mian Anjum, Arif Hussain, and Muhammad Aslam over poor performance. Sub inspectors Asghar Ali and Iftikhar Ahmed were given punishments of stoppage of two annual increments and reduction in salary at two stages.
In a press statement, the SSP said that dutiful and honest officers and officials would be encouraged at every level while stern action will be taken against inefficient officials. He also warned that involving citizens in false cases, faulty investigations, and illegal detention would not be tolerated and no leniency will be shown to the officials involved in such practices.
