DFID, admin review telemedicine project

SHEIKHUPURA

A delegation of the Department for International Development (DFID) and the district officer reviewed the telemedicine project that was launched by Sub-National Governance Programme under UK Aid.
The delegation led by DFID head Ms Joana Reid met with District Coordination Officer Arqam Tariq. The matters of mutual interest, promotion of bilateral relations and cooperation in telemedicine project were discussed on the occasion.
The Head of DFID appreciated the steps taken by the Sheikhupura administration in this regard. The DCO said that telemedicine project introduced to provide healthcare for the masses. He said that the project got great appreciation from the people. Its provincial representative Mr Bin French, Sub-National Governance Programme Punjab team leader Hamid Yaqoob Sheikh, Governance advisor Mukhtar, Naveed Saleh Sadique, education advisor Javed Ahmad Malik, EDO Finance Rashid Irshad Hussain, EDO Abdul Mateen, Ex-EDO Dr Iftikhar Ahmad, Assistant Commissioner Dr Rabia Riasat, Secretary RTA Mariyam Nawaz and team leader Shoaib Ahmad were present.
The objective of telemedicine project is to reduce the number of causalities during pregnancy and to bring betterment to diagnose the patients in basic health units. Patients in BHU could consult senior doctors in District Headquarters Hospital. Medical facilities are being providing for the patients in all BHUs under telemedicine project.
Ms Joanna Reid also visited BHU Khanpur and examined the diagnostic procedure there.
