PML-N MNA, son charged with attack on NML chief

The police on Saturday registered a case against nine persons including a PML-N MNA from Jhang and his son on charges of a murderous attack on the National Muslim League chairman that left his three gunmen injured.
The Gojra Saddr Police registered the FIR against MNA Sheikh Muhammad Akram, his son Sheikh Nawaz Akram and seven other over an attack on former MNA and National Muslim League (NML) chairman Ch Amjad Ali Warraich.
Complainant Shoukat Hayat, driver of the NML chief, said in the FIR that Mr Warraich was returning from Islamabad along with his gunmen (in another car). As they reached near Dhamman Canal, seven persons in a white car and a motorcycle including Asghar, Zeshan, Yasir, Ghaffar and three unidentified men sprayed both of their cars with bullets. The driver said that Mr Warraich escaped the attack, however, his three gunmen in the other car were injured and one of them is in critical condition in Allied Hospital Faisalabad. He stated in the FIR that the attack was abetted by MNA Akram and his son who owns the Shalimar Transport Company. He claimed that the accused MNA had a dispute with Amjad Warraich who owns Warraich Transport Company regarding routes of their vehicles. He said that the accused had killed of Warraich’s men in an attack in the past. When contacted investigation officer SI Muhammad Sarwar claimed that raids are being conducted in Gojra and Jhang to arrest the accused nominated in the FIR. However, no arrest could be made till filing of this report.
