LAHORE - The Punjab government has decided to restrict the jurisdiction of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to Lahore district only.
This was decided in a meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar which also reviewed the deputation policy. The chief minister directed to submit a summary in this regard as necessary amendments will be made in Lahore Development Authority Act, 1975 for this purpose.
It may be recalled that former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif had extended jurisdiction of LDA to all the cities falling in the administrative jurisdiction of Lahore Division.
The meeting was attended by Housing Minister Mian Mahmood-ur-Rashid, Vice Chairman WASA Sheikh Imtiaz Mahmood, Sadia Sohail Rana MPA, administrative secretaries and others. DG LDA briefed about important aspects of the Lahore Development Authority.
The CM directed to devise a pragmatic and fair deputation policy for officers and further directed to constitute a sub-committee for submitting a detailed report within seven days after thorough deliberations with stakeholders.
The meeting also approved allotment of a residential plot in Jubilee Town to PanahGah Authority for setting up a shelter home there.
The CM observed the apartments project was very important to provide a roof to the low-income families. He said the LDA has been made a public-friendly institution as the government was committed to providing facilities at the doorsteps of the citizens.
DY CHAIRMAN SENATE CALLS ON CM
Deputy Chairman Senate Mirza Muhammad Afridi called on Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar at his office to discuss matters of mutual interest.
The CM felicitated him on becoming Deputy Chairman Senate while Mirza Muhammad Afridi thanked the chief minister for his effective role in the Senate elections. Usman Buzdar has taken solid steps to give relief to the masses as wonderful work has been done to facilitate the general public, he said. He also appreciated governance-related reforms in the province.
Talking on the occasion, the CM said the success of government candidates is a triumph of transparent Pakistan as Balochistan and tribal areas got representation in the upper house of the parliament. It is important that backward areas have been given representation by the PTI, he stressed. Regrettably, politicians of some specific areas were chosen for important slots in past tenures and this usurped upon the rights of the backward areas, he maintained.
The CM asserted to accelerate the journey of development under the leadership of PM Imran Khan and assured him to extend cooperation for record digitization in tribal areas. I will visit tribal areas soon to extend cooperation for public welfare, he added.
The present and future of political looters are dark and the politics of those engaged in horse-trading has come to an end. In fact, the PDM is a thing of the past as its negative politics has been fully exposed, he added and emphasised that the transparent politics of PM Imran Khan will prevail in the country. Mirza Muhammad Afridi thanked the CM for taking interests in the welfare of the people of tribal areas.
Senator Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhary and Housing Minister Mian Mahmood-ur-Rashid were also present.
