LAKKI MARWAT - The local chapter of All Union Councils' Secretaries Association on Monday took out a protest rally in Lakki city to press the government for acceptance of their demands.
Let by association's president Badshah Khan and general secretary Abdul Jalil Khan, the rally started from Tanchi office and converged at Kargil Chowk after passing through Lakki-Darra Tang road. On the occasion, speakers said that provincial government had awarded scales upgradation to teachers and clerks, ignoring the union council secretaries in the privileges package. "The union council secretaries are like the backbone in government machinery as they are responsible for birth, death, nikah and divorce registration, preparation of Annual Developmental Programme and other important functions," they maintained.
