LAHORE - Four people died in separate accidents in different parts of the City during Eid days, police and rescue workers said. The police said that Muhammad Shafique was crossing a road near new Airport when a recklessly driven vehicle ran over him. He sustained severe injuries and died on the spot while the driver along with the car managed to escape from the scene. The police have registered a case and are investigating. In another incident, Asif, 45, was crossing a railway line when he was hit by a train near Mian Mir Colony. Rescue workers said that the deceased was mentally retarded. The police handed over the body to the heirs. In another incident, 26-year-old Mubashir died while his friend wounded critically when their motorcycle rammed into a footpath at Raiwind Road. The police said that both Mubashir and Shahid were on their way home when their two-wheeler rammed into the footpath due to speeding. The police handed over the body to the heirs while the injured was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Meanwhile, a 45-year-old man was killed while five others wounded when a speeding van bumped into a motorcycle here in Chuhng area. The police said that a 45-year-old man, yet to be identified, was killed while five passengers sustained injuries when the van smashed into the two-wheeler. The injured were rushed to a local hospital. The police have removed the body to the morgue for autopsy and are investigating.
