LAHORE Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting here on Friday, which reviewed the pace of implementation of the Central Business District and MM Alam Road Project. Member National Assembly Umar Sohail Zia Butt, Members Provincial Assembly Dr Saeed Elahi and Khawaja Salman Rafiq, Khawaja Ahmad Hassan, Chief Secretary, Chairman Planning & Development, Secretaries Finance and Transport, Commissioner and District Coordination Officer Lahore, Director General LDA, architect Ahmad Mukhtar representatives of TECRED Company as well as officers concerned were present. The CM said provision of a healthy atmosphere and better recreational facilities to the people in the present age of stress and strain was very important and government was utilising all available resources for this purpose. The Central Business District and MM Alam Road Project is of vital importance as it will not only promote economic activities but also create job opportunities, he said, while giving directions to accelerate the process of implementation of the project. The CM also formed a steering committee headed by Chief Secretary to review different matters and take measures for early completion of the project. He said elected representatives should also be inducted in the committee. The CM directed that construction of an overhead bridge near Gulab Devi Hospital should also be considered for the benefit of the people. Earlier, Director General LDA Umar Rasool and architect Ahmad Mukhtar apprised the meeting of the pace of execution of the project. The participants of the meeting also gave their proposals and suggestions about the project.
