Over 700,000 offals disposed of during 3 days

KARACHI - Karachi City District Government (CDGK) and various town administrations successfully managed to dispose above 700,000 offals and other waste of the sacrificial animals during the three days of Eidul Azha. On the last day of Eidul Azha on Friday, it is difficult to describe the exact figure of lifting offals by town administrations as the cleanliness drive would be conducted till late night, with sprinkling the lime stone on the roads and streets where animals had been scarified across the city. The Jamshed town administration claimed that they lifted and disposed off a record number of offals as the maximum number of animals was sacrificed in Jamshed town during the three days of Eidul Azha, they lifted 89,877 offals in the town limits and disposed off scientifically. The Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town administration said that they lifted more than 76,684 offals during the three days of Eid and visited various UCs of the town and reviewed the cleanliness work. They said that the offals had been removed timely. but scientific dumping of the offals, sprinkling lime stones on that places where animals were scarified and other cleanliness work made assure on the same day. However, Liaquatabad Town administration did not inform about the exact figure of the number of disposed off offals till filling this report but it is learnt that they had lifted and removed more than 67,328 offals, till the last day. The Saddar town lifted 62,687 offals and the Shah Faisal Town removed 34,000 offals, In Landhi town, more than 51,964 offals lifted and disposed off, In Lyari 35,000, offals disposed off while in the Baldia town, about 48,883 offals were removed from the town limits. Gulberg Town 62,567.The Korangi Town administration said that they had lifted and disposed off 58,567 offals from its town limits during the three days cleanliness. Bin Qasim town, Gadap town, Kemari town, and Orangi town administrations failed to inform the exact figures of lifting and disposing the offals till filling this report but it is also confirmed cleanliness drives was observed in all the said above towns and offals were disposing till night. However, this is possibility that the towns administration exaggerated the number of the offals to show and highlight their performance but as far as the look of the city is concerned during the three days, there was no sign of offals, remains and waste of sacrificial animals at on open streets and roads in majority of the localities according to the reports. It was reported that some parts of Gulberg town, presented the poor look of cleanliness and neither offals had been disposed off on time nor lime stone was sprinkled. It may be noted that MQMs head quarter popularly known as (Nine Zero) situated in the same town limit. Meanwhile City Administrator Lala Fazalur Rehman has directed the department concerned of the CDGK, all towns and union councils to change the lifting and disposal of offal operation into cleanliness campaign by using the same manpower, machinery and other resources so that the remaining effects of waste of the sacrificial animals could be removed completely. He expressed satisfaction over the performance of all staff and officers of city government, towns & union councils administration for taking part in the successful operation. He also thanked citizens of Karachi for providing help and cooperation in the swift lifting and disposal of offal during all three days of Eidul Azha and said that operation was still not completed and will continue till the completion of cleaning work.
