KARACHI - A low intensity tremors measuring 1.1 on the Richter scale created panic in different areas of the city, early Friday morning. Most of the people left their home at Landhi, Malir, Korangi, Shah Faisal Colony and other surrounding areas, a resident of the Shahra-e-Fasial said, When I was sleeping in our home, the main door of the house started shaking badly and produced terrible noise. We felt that someone knocked at the door with full power, he added that many of the residents of the area, came out of their houses and recited verses. However, according to the Met office, there were no reports of damage or casualties. The spokesman of the Met office confirmed that a 1.1 magnitude earthquake had struck parts of the city according to the office the epicentre of the quake was 10 kilometres deep in the sea and the tremors were felt at 4:18 am. It is pertinent to mention here that on December, 2008 an earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale has hit the southwest Karachi.
