The Rental Power Plant agreement with Turkey is the most expensive pact of Pakistans history and the first of the incumbent government, report said. According to PEPCO sources, the government would have to raise power tariff by 2 percent every month for providing rent of this RPP, and the consumer would bear this burden instead of get subsidy on this. They added that the power tariff would gradually reach to Rs15 per unit owing to this expensive RPP deal with Turkey. A former PEPCO MD told that investors are reluctant to sign any deal with the present government over RPPs, adding that 1900MW electricity had been included in the national grid through pacts in Musharraf regime and present government is getting this credit.
