LAHORE Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif paid a surprise visit to Northern Lahore and reviewed availability and prices of sugar at various shops. Member National Assembly Bilal Yaseen and District Coordination Officer Lahore Ahad Cheema accompanied the CM on his more than two hours long visit. The CM inquired from the consumers about the availability of sugar at the fixed rate upon which he was informed that due to the measures taken by the government sugar was available at the price fixed. In response to complaints of non-availability of sugar at some shops, the CM said sale of sugar at the fixed rate at all places would be ensured and hoarders would not be allowed to exploit the masses. The CM expressed the indignation over the non-functioning of streetlights in some areas and ordered suspension of TMO Data Gung Bakhsh Town Malik Tariq for poor arrangements of street lighting and dereliction of duty. He ordered that streetlights be installed in all areas within a week and it should be checked on daily basis. He said these areas should be properly lit on his next visit. He said sanitary conditions had improved in these areas; however there was a need for further improvement. He reviewed availability and prices of sugar at various shops of Bilal Gung, Mohni Road and adjoining areas and expressed his satisfaction over the sanitary arrangements in Ara Hassan Shah, Chowk Sirdar Chappal, Bilal Gung Market and Bairi Chowk. He also met people individually and inquired about their problems. The people observed that only Shahbaz Sharif was capable to solve their problems.
