Violence during Eid claims 12 lives

KARACHI - Nine people including two women and two real brothers were killed in separate incidents of violence in different part of metropolis on three days of Eidul Azha. According to the detail, two real brothers gunned down at Noor Mohammad Village Road within the limits of Pak Colony police station. The victim 52-year-old Abdul Rasheed alias Ustad was sitting in his home situated at Noor Mohammad Village Old Golimar with his brother Abdul Aziz, some unidentified armed men reached and called them when they come outside the house, armed men hostages them at gunpoint and open indiscriminate firing on them near their house. Resultantly both died on the spot. After committing the crime culprits manage to flee from the scene. Police shifted their bodies in Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for legal formalities, where victims heirs staged protest in hospital and took their bodies without completing any legal formalities. Police said Rasheed Ustad was the father of Naveed who was affiliated with notorious Lyari gangster Arshad Pappu group and might be armed men target was Naveed but at the time he was not present in the home so armed men target his father and uncle, adding that Abdul Aziz was the member of paramedical staff of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. In another incident, a bus driver was gunned down in Bilal Colony Korangi in the limits of Korangi Industrial Area police station. The victim, 26-year-old Anwar, son of Qudrat Shah was standing outside his bus route no C-1, suddenly one armed man reached and open firing on him, resultantly he died on the spot. Police shifted his body Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for postmortem. SHO Ghulam Ahmed Sheikh said the victim had freewill marriage in Kohat Khyber Pukhtoonkwah on eight months earlier; adding that victim father in law Jummah Gull was involved in his murder. Police said after committing the crime Jummah Gull escaped away. Later police handed over the body of his brother Gull Rahim. Police registered the case against Jummah Gull on the complaint of victims brother and initiated probe. Separately, police found a bullet riddled and tortured body of a youth near Sitara Bakery in the remits of Model Colony police station. The identity of victim is yet to be ascertained, area people informed to police that one body was lying in Sheet No 9 near Sitara Bakery Model Colony. Police reached on spot and recovered the body and shifted in JPMC for medico legal formalities. Meanwhile, three people including an activist of All Pakistan Muttahida Students Organisation (APMSO) were killed in different incidents of snatching the hides of sacrificial animals while at least 10 others sustained injuries during the three days of Eidul Azha. As per details, the first incident occurred at Lyari within the remits of Kalri police station where some armed men of Lyari gag war turned up to seek sacrificial hides at Niazi Chowk in Lyari from Niazi community but, the Niazi community declined their demands, which lead to exchange of hot words between the two parties. The armed men opened indiscriminate firing at the people, as per result two people, later identified as 30-years-old Fayyaz son of Abdul Qadir and 28-years-old Sami Ullah son of Bashir were killed on the spot while injuring ten others namely Waseem, Gull Khan, Raheel, Muhammad Khan, Ahmed, Tahir, Sohail and others. After committing their crime the criminals manage to escape from the scene with the hides police informed. Bodies, the injured were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK), where they were being given medical treatment. SHO Kalri police station, Yousuf Baloch said that the activists of Lyari gang war were involved in the said incident, while onlooker informed the police that the sons of Lyari gang war notorious criminal Badshah Khan namely Faheem, Waseem, Shahid alias (Darinda) Shakeel, Khadim Hussain, Abdul Basit and Saeed Bengali were involved in the said tragic incident. Heavy contingents of police and the Rangers arrived in the area on the spot and put a security cordoned around the affected area. Though police launched search operation however, no arrest was made on the occasion. In another incident, three people including an activist of All Pakistan Muttahida Students Organisation (APMSO) sustained bullets injuries during a hide-snatching scuffle in Block-17 of Gulshan-e-Iqbal near Dalmia within the remits of Aziz Bhatti police station. Police said that the incident was occurred when three people namely Iftikhar, Naseem and Waseem came at Gulshan-e-Iqbal block 17 for collecting the hides by supporter of MQM, unidentified armed men open intense indiscriminate firing and manage to escape from the scene. Sources further said that armed men kidnapped Iftikhar and reached few steps far open indiscriminate firing on him, resultantly the activists of (APMSO) Iftikhar was critically injured, who later succumbed to injuries at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). Hospital sources said that two other namely Naseem and Waseem also have been wounded while they are out of danger. Victim was the resident of Old Golimar and father of one child. On the complaint of an injured Naseem police has registered an FIR No. 694/2010 against Asif, Usman and Waqar and further investigation is in progress. It may be mentioned here that aerial firing and scuffle also have been reported in several parts of the city including Kharadar, Mithadar, Ranchore Line, Usman abad, Lee Market, New Karachi, Kati Pahari, Godhra, Dalmia, Shanty Nagar, Bakra Piri, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, North Nazimabad and other respective areas. According to the police officials victim received one bullet in his head while several torture marks also present in his body, adding that police believed that culprits kidnapped him and after murder threw his body because they did not found near from his body. Later, police moved his body Edhi Morgue for identification. Police lodged the case against unidentified men on the complaint of state. A trader gunned down near Noorani Hotel in Hub Dam Road in the jurisdiction of Manghopir police station. The victim 35-year-old Ashok Kumar son of Hoot Mal was sitting in his general store, two unidentified armed reached on his shop and trying to looted money and other valuable stuff, during robbery Ashok offered resistance and one armed man open firing on him, resultantly he died on the spot. Police shifted his body Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico legal formalities. Police claimed that he arrest one bandit namely Akbar Khan and trying to arrest other bandit. Victim was the resident of same area. Police registered the case and initiated probe. A young man was shot dead near his house in Sultanabad within the jurisdiction of Jackson police station. The victim 25-year-old Shaukat Ali son of Mohammad Ali was sitting outside his home two armed men reached and opened firing on him resultantly he died on the spot. Police shifted his body CHK for legal formalities. According to the police officials Shaukat had dispute with Irshad and his son Babar and few days back he had fight with them. Police further said victim family suspect that Irshad and his son involved in his murder. Police registered a Fir against them and start to trace culprits. Police found a torture marks body of young man in bushes near Kausar Medical Store Gulshan Iqbal in the limits of Mobina Town police station. The identity of victim is yet to be ascertained while he had several torture marks. According to the police officials local informed to police that one body was lying in Jungle Road, after getting information police rushed on spot and recovered the body. Police shifted his body JPMC and later moved to Edhi Morgue for identification. Separately, a woman was slaughtered to death near Art Chowk in the remits of Kalri police station. Police said the deceased 23 year old Saima, wife of Qadir khan, resident of Gull Phase Building, was in her house where his angry husband arrived and after quarrel with Saima slaughter to death with sharp object. Officer said the deceased married with Qadir six years ago and had two children, Qadir was unemployed. Police arrested Qadir and initiate the prob. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico legal formalities and after the legal formalities the body handed over to the heirs. Similarly, in another incident mother of four was killed at Punjab Colony in the jurisdiction of Sharifabad police station. According to the police officials the victim was later identified as Tasleem 32, wife of Abdul Majeed, resident of the same area, was in her house his charged husband arrived and after exchanging hot words strangled to death. They added that the victim was the mother of four children. Police arrested Abdul Majeed and Latif brother of the deceased including Afsar, police further said during initial investigation Abdul Majeed confessed that he killed her wife due to bad character. The body was shifted to ASH and after the legal formalities the body was handed to the family. Police registered the case against accused and initiated to probe the case.
