OUR STAFF REPORTER JHANG - The district police officer of Jhang has said that Karbala incident teaches us a lesson of sacrifice, tolerance, and fight against inequality, cruelty and injustice, adding that Hazrat Imam Hussain and his companions embraced martyrdom to uphold the supremacy of Islam, tranquility and brotherhood. Rao Abdul Karim urged religious scholars to follow the footsteps of Hazrat Imam Hussain and extend their full cooperation to the district administration to maintain law and order during the coming month of Muharramul Haram. The DPO said that foolproof security plan had been devised on the basis of latest security tips and police personnel were being deployed to protect processions, Majalis and other gatherings. Intelligence network has been activated to keep vigilance on suspected persons by focusing hotels, restaurants, wagon & bus stands and entry and exist points of the district, he added. Nobody will be allowed to carry weapons during processions and Majalis. All SHOs and SDPOs had been directed to launch movement against the persons affiliated with banned outfits. Crisis management centres at 51 trouble spots of the district have been made active, he said. To a question, the DPO said that for the first time in history of the district, a security plan had been prepared very keenly keeping in view the ground reality. Cops are being deployed by namely to make them more responsible at their assigned place of duty, he disclosed, adding that license-holders and organisers of the Majalis and processions had been advised to depute their persons on security points after proper verifications from the SHOs concerned. He appealed to the religious scholars and media men to play their role to create and promote brotherhood, tolerance and peace among people. He asked them to take part in maintaining peace in the district, saying peace could only be achieved with the help of Ulema and people. The DPO said that some 37 Ulema have been banned in the district. These scholars include Malik Muhammad Ishaque of defunct Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, Allama Sajid Hussain Naqvi of Tehrik Jaferia, Khalifa Abdul Karim of Millat-i-Islamia Pakistan, Central Secretary General of Ahl-e-Sunnat Waljamaat Dr Khadim Hussain Dholan, he added.
